A photo a day from Scotland’s biggest city.

War Memorial

Posted by Jackie on December 2, 2008

I didn’t get the chance to show a suitable photo for Remembrance Day last month, so will make up for that by showing this picture of the War Memorial in George Square, which I took a couple of weeks ago (between 5-6pm if I remember rightly). I’m not sure if the wreaths are still there or if they’ve been removed now.

The building in the background is the City Chambers, home of Glasgow City Council.

The City Chambers look very impressive. Is this really Glasgow? Edinburgh used to be my favourite UK city, but from your shots it looks like it’s going to be “surpassed”…Ciao. Antonella

I am totally distracted by the City Chambers. I think it’s gorgeous, especially lit up like that!

The background building is beautiful behind it.

What a beautiful memorial. I think it’s one of the lovelier I’ve seen…though it could just be that you did such a great job capturing it. I love the poppies. We don’t do that here in the U.S. anymore.
