A couple of weeks ago we, like the rest of the UK, were basking in sunshine and moaning about how hot it was. Then the heavens (finally!) opened a week ago, and luckily for me (ha!) I was caught right in the middle of it. This is at the bottom of University Avenue, and I can categorically say it was absolutely tanking it down.
Welcome to summer in Scotland!
[In other news: I'm sorry I've not made as many visits to other commenters' blogs as before, life has got a bit hectic (understatement). But I'm hoping to get round as many blogs as I can soon. I do read every comment here, and really appreciate them, thanks very much for visiting!]

Does it get humid and sticky when it rains there in the summer like it does here?

We went from 36° to 17° in a couple of days and had a few big rainshowers like yours! It looks like November, but I like your shot!

Frankly I was scratching my napper with the Uni at the bottom of the Avenue. All I saw was the old buildings, then it dawned on me where you were standing.

That’s exactly what happened to me last night! My pants were soaked to the knees and, because my stupid umbrella sprung a leak, my head got wet too. And not even a photo to make the experience worthwhile ;D

Now I dont feel so bad. I left Ontario for a week in Nova Scotia with sunscreen and sunhat. Spent most of the time in a raincoat with an umbrella being blown inside out by galeforce winds! I came home with a suitcase full of damp clothes—so reminded me of my childhood in Scotland—picnics in the back of bus shelters when out for a day in Portobello etc etc. Thanks for the great photo.

But his has wonderful atmosphere – dark, ponderous, Victorian-Edwardian Glasgow. A stranger couldn’t guess how different much of the city is.

although i love the rain (i mean that), these kinds of climate mood swings must take a toll on people’s morale – summer should be summer after all!

Lovely picture of the rains. It’s monsoon here in Mumbai too but never rained yet the way it should… even we are awaiting for the heavens to open….

Has the weather gone mad? Today in Dublin there are heavy thundery showers (Summer?). I was talking to a friend from Poland this morning and he said Poland has terrible rain causing damage and flooding. A friend texted me from Southern Spain yesterday and she said “it’s hellish hot” – they have a heatwave and the government has issued a warning. What’s going on?
Glad I found your blog, I lived in the Gorbals once!
