Subway map
Posted by Jackie on November 9, 2009
London’s tube (underground trains) map has been iconic for decades, and is truly a work of art. Glasgow’s subway map is not quite as complicated – basically if you get on a train and stay on it long enough you’ll end up getting where you want without having to change, as it’s just a circle. This map is outside Hillhead Station on Byres Road.

And you can go round and round all day for just £3.50.

Am I right in thinking it has the nickname ‘Clockwork Orange’?

Ian – yes. It’s an affectionate name in fact, because the trains are orange and its more like a toy clockwork railway than the ‘real thing’.

A map for a circle?! Well it would certainly help me!

When I featured a picture ages ago of a subway train and titled the entry “Clockwork Orange” I got told off and said that nobody really calls it that, except in the guidebooks!

Sounds simple enough! Wish all subways were like that
