This is another one taken from Queen’s Park, the same day as yesterday’s picture. I was really pleased with this one.

[OK, that’s me back on my break now. I think photography opportunities are going to be few and far between over the next couple of months, my thesis is due in September and there are various other things going on so I’m going back in hiding and will hopefully emerge intact soon! Thanks for remembering me and coming to visit the blog again!]

Bluebell carpet

Glasgow has a bit of a gritty image and reputation, but it has so much green space that you don’t have to go too far to find beauty. This is from Queen’s Park a few weeks ago. I was playing with my new camera, and although not all the pictures came out as I’d hoped, I was pleased with this one.

How many frogs?

I know this blog is on a bit of a hiatus, but after a few weeks of work and a few days of a nasty tummy bug, I thought I’d go for a restorative walk round Queen’s Park, and try out my new zoom lens at the same time. At the small pond there were lots of people pointing and taking photos, and when I got close I saw why. There was quite a bit of X-rated froggy activity going on, and lots and lots of spawn already.

I can see 12 frogs in this picture – can you see any more?

(I’ll show a couple of views I took over the next couple of days to show off my new toy).

Fog in the park

Posted by Jackie on January 6, 2010

IMGP4261

Now I’m back from my travels down south for New Year, Glasgow is as covered in snow as when I left it! (and I have to say, the driving feels even scarier, I had a few skids and slides yesterday though thankfully nothing too dramatic). I was also back to work yesterday, so I’ll be relying on old photos for a while (which is a shame, as I became the proud owner of my first ever DSLR last week and I really want to go out and play with it, it’s so exciting and shiny!).

Anyway, here’s a picture of Queen’s Park from a couple of years ago when we had a couple of days of really heavy fog.

I’m aiming for every other day postings (or thereabouts) for now – I’ll see how it goes.

Here’s the final Christmas Eve snow picture from Queen’s Park. There’s something about this one I really like.

Snowy gate

The gate at the entrance to Queen’s Park is impressive at the best of times, but I think even more so in the snow.

Looking north

SANY0158

This is the last of the pictures I took in Queen’s Park last weekend, looking down towards the park entrance, up Victoria Road towards the city centre, and then past the north of the city to the hills of the Campsie Fells beyond.
