View of the Tall Ship from Glasgow Tower

Posted by Jackie on March 28, 2008

The Tall Ship is a restored Clyde-built bulk cargo carrier called the Glenlee which first took to the sea in 1896 and circumnavigated the globe four times. She was bought by the Spanish navy in the 1920s and used as a sail training vessel, but ended up lying forgotten in Seville harbour until a British naval architect discovered her in 1990. Two years later the Glenlee was bought at auction and returned to the Clyde, where she was restored and now functions as a museum. There is more information and pictures on the official website here. This view is taken from the top of the Glasgow Tower, which is on the opposite bank of the Clyde.

I’m away till the end of the month with minimal internet access, but pictures will still appear – hope you like them 🙂

  1. Forgotten in Seville for seven decades… And it didn’t rot away, amazingly.

  2. I’d love to see a photo on deck!
