A photo a day from Scotland’s biggest city.

“Knowledge and Inspiration”

Posted by Jackie on May 28, 2008

This sculpture, called “Knowledge and Inspiration”, sits high up on the front of the Modern Languages Building of Glasgow University, in University Avenue. It is made of copper and bronze, and was made by Walter Pritchard from Glasgow School of Art.

Here’s wishing lots of knowledge and inspiration to all the students currently undergoing their exams (including mine, who have their exam today – good luck guys!).

  1. Hopefully they’ll ace it! 🙂

I really (really!) love that sculpture.

Re: direct linking to larger size, looks like I didn’t get the right tutorial… Gizelle’s photos, like yours, would link to “all sizes” and sometimes not even that. When I mentioned this to her, she somehow figured out how to link directly to largest size available. I just noticed that you use WordPress and I think that Gizelle’s on Blogger, but maybe that doesn’t make any difference. Sigh. 🙂

  2. Good luck for you…and me 🙂

    Great photo!

  3. Best of luck. Perfcetly named sculpture for the place it sits. I do think Glasgow Touisrt Board should be seeking you out. You really capture a very different side to the city.

  4. It was me not cloudedyellow. That’s my partner who never logs out of my laptop, but he agrees anyway.

Thanks for the good luck wishes – it wasn’t actually me doing the exam (I’m a postgrad so thankfully those days are largely over) but the students I have taught this year. But I’m sure they got the good vibes after I redirected them 🙂
