A photo a day from Scotland’s biggest city.

Living water

Posted by Jackie on October 7, 2008

This little fountain is situated just outside Renfield St Stephen (see photo from a couple of days ago). It’s a lovely little spot on a busy main road. The nearby plaque reads:

Living Water

The fountain was originally in the church garden, part of the Glasgow Garden Festival 1988.  You are invited to enjoy with others this place of quiet in the midst of the city: to rest and remember the Lord Jesus Christ, the source of life-giving water – and be refreshed.  St. John 4:14

A nice peaceful spot to rest…. perhaps after climbing one of those steep hills. It’s nice to hae this fountain in the midst of the city to stop and reflect for a moment.

Looks like a calm and wonderful place to sit and relax…and contemplate.

It’s a beautiful and peaceful spot, and I love the simplicity of the fountain. I wouldn’t mind having something like this in my garden.

That certainly does look like a lovely little place to sit and rest….and reflect! I am amazed to see such an open mention of Jesus in “modern times”. I guess as an American, I have been (perhaps brainwashed) told we are so fortunate to have freedom of religion. Could it be that as Americans *talk* about it, the Scottish are quietly *practicing* it?

I love every form of water display in public places, but that small fountain is just awesome!

  7. Straight from Torino (Fab) to Glasgow… I’ve found this lovely fountain.
Happily there are spots like this one in the cities.
