A photo a day from Scotland’s biggest city.

Over the weekend the Homecoming Scotland campaign was launched. Coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, it’s supposed to celebrate Scottish culture (and, as An Honest Man pointed out yesterday, attract the tourists). Of course it’s already controversial – the campaign was thought up by the previous Lib-Lab administration, and now they are in opposition they’re accusing the SNP minority government of using it as a means of promoting themselves, which they deny (and of course, the previous lot would never have done that either, no of course not πŸ˜‰ ).

This was an event in George Square, where there was a stage with music, poetry and dancing, and these images of the Bard projected onto the City Chambers (NB there’s a much better photo than this one on Long Aye-lander‘s blog).

it would attract this tourist, then I’d head over to the Isle of Islay for some Scotch!

I don’t know whether it was in honour of the great man or not, but this week they are selling microwavable packs of neeps and tatties, with slices of haggis, in a supermarket here in Lancashire!

Oh Jackie, that is a gorgeous photo! You caught “excitement” quite well! Look at all the traffic! Wow! Of course, you KNOW that those blue lights have really caught my eye!!!!!
Hmmm…looks like politics is about as exciting there in Scotland as here in the USofA!

  4. A great night view…

Sounds like a festival that my husband and I would enjoy! Thanks for the link to Katie’s blog β€” the poems she posted were hilarious! And so was your #5 yesterday, though I’m sure it wasn’t when those things happened πŸ˜‰
