March 2009 Theme Day – Glass

Posted by Jackie on March 1, 2009

We’re back to the Burrell Collection (which I featured in a number of posts the other week) for today’s theme day, which is glass. This is the ceiling of the courtyard just past the entrance to the museum, which is full of natural light thanks to this design. Mind you, I’ve never been there during a rain or hail storm, I’m guessing it could be a bit less tranquil then!

Lots of city daily photo blogs are participating in this theme day today. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants and see glass from around the world.

Those colours remind me of Magritte so I am expecting a man with a bowler and brolly. Lovely symetry and light.

A very cool entry for the theme! Just look at that sky! It certainly contrasts nicely against the sharp lines in the structure!

    Hey, Happy March!

Oh, I’d love to stand under this during a wicked storm, hail, lightning, thunder and heavy rain. Awesome shot.

I like the shadow work and there’s some very nice geometry to contrast with the clouds. I love it.

Amazing ceiling. I like the geometry of it and also the way the light is striking the struts. I bet the rain hitting that roof would be pretty noisy!

  8. If I remember correctly, it is a double glazed affair and the sound from outside if muted.

  9. That should of course read ‘is muted’!

That’s a gorgeous ceiling, especially with that wonderful blue sky! Wouldn’t you just love to be caught there during a lightning storm? 😀

Beautiful choice for theme day, Jackie!

  11. Well done! Great choice and such a beautiful blue sky! Hard to clean, though with all the seagulls, wouldn’t you say? 😉

It would be a great place to see lunar eclipses and shooting stars too! Great image.

Love the lines and light, and the glass of course!

  16. A nice perspective. To be honest, it doesn’t look like glass. 🙂
