Synagogue (2)

Posted by Jackie on May 23, 2009

Here’s a view of the synagogue building. It’s opposite one church and round the corner from another. I’m glad there is the space for this place to co-exist with them.

Very nice – I can even make out the writing from the previous post 🙂

Thinking back to my time in Edinburgh, in Leith there were multiple churches as well as a gudwara and an ashram and a Pakistani mosque as a Bahai house all within a stone’s throw (there’s a synagogue up in Salisbury Road, by the way).

It is an attractive building and I would guess it’s quite beautiful inside. Is there a large Jewish community in Glasgow. They probably hold services on Friday evening and some Saturdays.

Quite an understated house of worship when compared to some of the churches in the area, eh? Of course, the doors and the bright blue sky add some “pop”!

The door does contrast with the building: but it looks beautiful — fascinating windows.

Good to see and image like this free of well the usual graffiti.
