A photo a day from Scotland’s biggest city.

Boyd Orr

As well as dreaming spires, Glasgow University has its fair share of concrete carbuncles. When the sky is blue though it does make the concrete look marginally less hideous. This is the tower of the Boyd Orr building, which houses teaching rooms and lecture theatres.

You’re right, it isn’t too hideous from this point of view, good job!

Well, it does look like some of the concrete is covered in aggregate. Michelle’s new school is just plain gray concrete….gross and simple!!!!! And yes, the blue skies do indeed detract from “ugliness”!!!!!

Your fantastic photo sure doesn’t make it seem hideous! Great shot!

  4. KoOL Perspective. Gives an idea of the height. I like the angle at which you’ve shot the pic. Nicely done!

Every university has its carbuncles. Wait! 50 years from now this will be a listed building.

Yes, the weather does make a great difference to these sort of buildings. You should take a comparison photo on a wet and cloudy day.
