Woolly hat

In a refreshing change from his usual traffic cone headgear, last weekend Wellington was sporting a much more appropriate scarf and bobble hat.

Chambers and Square

And here’s the City Chambers and George Square in the snow (are you bored of snow yet?!). Unlike much of the city centre George Square wasn’t all slushy – it was cordoned off as workmen were taking down the Christmas decorations.

I thought Glasgow Central Mosque looked absolutely beautiful with its snowy covering.

Ice on the Clyde

Posted by Jackie on January 13, 2010

IMG_0854

As you may know the UK spent the last few weeks in a pretty major cold snap. The photos over the next few days were taken at the weekend – here you can see ice has formed on the river Clyde, the first time I’ve seen that since I’ve lived here. Hopefully it is all starting to thaw now – with any luck this will be the end of it, after having had a burst pipe and no water for a while I’m hoping we get back to normal sooner rather than later!

Before the gig

Here’s a view of the Old Fruitmarket stage, before the band comes on to play. It is my absolute favourite venue in Glasgow for gigs.

Fruitmarket bar

This picture is looking over towards the bar at the Old Fruitmarket. I chose this picture (and the next one) as next week sees the start of the annual Celtic Connections Festival (this is from the festival a couple of years ago). It is a great festival, and a wonderful way to cheer up a cold and miserable January (though being straight after Christmas it means that a lot of bank accounts can get a bit stretched!).

Foggy university

One from the same day as the previous picture, this shows the university tower in the fog (I know I showed a picture of this before, but I’m pretty sure it was a different picture. Funnily enough I took several 😀 ).

Fog in the park

Posted by Jackie on January 6, 2010

Now I’m back from my travels down south for New Year, Glasgow is as covered in snow as when I left it! (and I have to say, the driving feels even scarier, I had a few skids and slides yesterday though thankfully nothing too dramatic). I was also back to work yesterday, so I’ll be relying on old photos for a while (which is a shame, as I became the proud owner of my first ever DSLR last week and I really want to go out and play with it, it’s so exciting and shiny!).

Anyway, here’s a picture of Queen’s Park from a couple of years ago when we had a couple of days of really heavy fog.

I’m aiming for every other day postings (or thereabouts) for now – I’ll see how it goes.

Here’s the final Christmas Eve snow picture from Queen’s Park. There’s something about this one I really like.
