Calm reflection

This is the previous bridge, reflected in an unfeasibly calm river Clyde. I don’t think I’d ever seen it so calm.

Reflections on Glasgow life

This is a fairly common sight, and since I’ve been doing this blog I’ve noticed puddles and reflections more and more (though usually when I’ve not had the camera with me). This shows a pretty typical block of sandstone tenement flats reflected at a south side road junction.

This is a close-up from the new footbridge, showing the curves that really aren’t that noticeable when you look at it head-on.

New Bridge

This is Glasgow’s newest and shiniest bridge over the river Clyde, opened just over a month ago. I’m not sure what it’s called (I’ve seen someone on flickr refer to it as “Squiggly”, in keeping with the second-newest bridge the Squinty a little way up the river which has featured here plenty of times before). I’ll show a closer view tomorrow.

The yellow things in the foreground are from the ladders at the lifebelt stations which are dotted along the river in case someone gets into difficulty.

Please take the time to visit Tehran 24 (previously Portland Daily Photo, and currently being used to distribute photos and information as it is not yet blocked by the Iranian authorities). A City Daily Photo blogger from Tehran has been missing since Saturday, his family are concerned he has been arrested for taking photos at the recent demonstrations.

The reason we went to Queen’s Park at the weekend was to see if we could see any ducklings, although I was pretty sure (and was right) that we were too early for that. We did manage to see some baby coots, but the two photos I managed to take of them (before my camera batteries gave up) were both rubbish, too far away for my not-particularly-strong zoom and also not helped by one of the adult coots constantly swimming in front of them, presumably to protect them from the paparazzi! I did though manage to catch this fine fellow preening himself, he seemed quite unpeturbed to be photographed, probably he was aware how lovely he looks.

Thank you for all the get-well-soons. I’m back working, not 100% but should be visiting blogs again soon (I have another deadline coming up, so looking at other people’s blogs is ideal procrastination 😀 ).

BBC reflections

This is the new(ish) BBC Scotland building, on Pacific Quay. In the distance you can see the Finnieston Crane and the Squinty Bridge, and that’s the BBC’s next door neighbour the Science Centre, IMAX cinema and Glasgow Tower reflected in its windows.
