Red sky at night

I took this as I was going home from the university almost for the last time and heading for the bus stop on University Avenue, at the end of October. Unfortunately due to the exposure settings on the camera being a complete mystery to me, I was unable to reproduce the dark blue sky or the deep deep reds of the clouds. It was an amazing sky.

I went back to the university last week one evening after work – my PhD supervisors are being very accommodating and meeting me in the evenings when we need to meet. It was really strange being back, even though I’ve only been away a month and a half! It’s like a different world now I’ve got a proper job!

Here’s another peek at the sky over Queen’s Park at the weekend.

Here’s a bit of the skyline in Queen’s Park. I liked how the spire and the trees were silhouetted against the sky.

University sky

Another old photo – it’s been 2 weeks since I left the university and started my job in a less aesthetically beautiful part of the city, and it feels like forever ago. So I am posting this as much for nostalgic purposes as anything else. (I’m worried I’ve shown this photo before, but if I did it was ages ago). The sky hasn’t been this colour for a while!

Grey sky thinking

Here’s some more of those lovely Glasgow grey skies! This isn’t a monochrome picture (if you look very closely you’ll see the actual colour of the bridge), but it felt like a monochrome day. I thought I’d experiment a bit, I quite like this one. This is from one of the footbridges over the Clyde – at night it’s lit up red (I’ve shown it on here before) and looks totally different.

Sky and lines

This is the view looking up in the atrium of the Wolfson Building (Medical School) of Glasgow University. It’s a great space due to the masses of natural light. The sky hasn’t been this colour this week, sadly – this was taken a few weeks ago.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a picture of the Squinty Bridge up. This is taken on the bridge looking to the north bank of the river.

Through the round window

This is looking up at the domed window of the Kibble Palace in the Botanic Gardens (the blue is the sky – this was taken in May, it would be a very different picture if I’d taken it this week!).

I’m offline again for a few days, but have lined up a few pictures.

Kibble Palace

This view of the Kibble Palace in the Botanic Gardens was taken nearly 2 months ago – I’m quite sure the trees in the background have plenty more leaves now. I don’t think I’ll ever get fed up of taking pictures here, the building is so beautiful before you get anywhere near the plants!

Katya is currently showing photos from the Botanic Gardens in Buffalo, and a lot of her glasshouse ones are reminding me of Glasgow’s Botanics. So here’s a picture from the Kibble Palace glasshouse to accompany the photos from the other side of the Pond. 🙂
