This is one of the more colourful exhibits in the Transport Museum, from Pakistan. Apparently there was a project in Glasgow a few years ago to decorate a bus in a similar style, but I don’t know if anything ever came of it?

August theme day – Night

Posted by Jackie on August 1, 2009

As it’s the first of the month, that means it must be theme day again. This month the theme for the city daily photo blogs is Night. Actually I didn’t have a good night shot that I haven’t already shown, so I have cheated a little bit. This is another view from the Transport Museum, but as it depicts an old night scene I figured it worked for the theme day 🙂

Old subway

Posted by Jackie on July 31, 2009

This is one of the exhibits in the Transport Museum, a replica of a subway (underground train) station with the old fashioned station indicator.

This is another picture from the Transport Museum. Who needs a siren when you have a shiny bell like that? 🙂

I’m not entirely convinced that wooden ladders would be the safest thing in the world when fire-fighting though!

Transport Museum

Posted by Jackie on July 8, 2009

I visited Glasgow’s Transport Museum ages and ages ago, and never did get round to sharing any photos here. So I’ll post a few over the next few weeks (not all together, but depends on how many pictures of other things I can dig out to vary it a bit!). The Museum is in part of the Kelvin Hall, where they also hold a number of sporting events. It has rather outgrown its venue though (having been there since 1964), and they are in the process of building a purpose-built shiny new building to house the Transport Museum, on the banks of the Clyde. That’s due to open in 2011. In the meantime, the Transport Museum remains Glasgow’s second-most visited free attraction (after the Kelvingrove Museum which is over the road).

This picture shows a view looking down on some of Glasgow’s old trams. They don’t make them like they used to (just ask Edinburgh 😉 ).
